UNVEILING CEREMONY OF A MONUMENT DEDICATED TO THE FALLEN AND MISSING PERSONS OF THE TURKISH INVASION OF 1974 

The unveiling ceremony of the Monument Dedicated to the Fallen and Missing Persons was held on Sunday October 27th, 2013. A Religious Memorial in honour of the Fallen preceded the ceremony, while people also prayed at the church of Metamorphosis Soteros for the finding of the Missing Persons. The unveiling ceremony was performed by the honourable President of the Parliament, Mr. Yiannakis Omirou. Next followed a plead to God, while wreaths were laid and honorary commemorations bestowed to the relatives of the Fallen and Missing Persons before people visited a photo exhibition and a reception. During the event, attendants held a moment of silence before singing the National Anthem in a very emotional atmosphere. The ceremony was attended by Members of the Parliament, representatives of Political Parties, the Army, the Police, state officials, teachers and a big number of citizens.
